Maintenance team cooking?

Well, the chef here at Lurecrest had to head home because his grandma was really sick.
Somebody has to cook for the Bible school so we decided to take it upon ourselves and grill some burgers. We had found some really awesome hats while cleaning up one of the offices a month ago so we through them on since we couldn't find any hairnets. Nate, the chef, also emphasizes the necessity to wear gloves while handling food so we brought some of our own since our hands our too large to fit his. Our gloves are supposed to be used for working with Cattle's rear ends, but they were sterile and cover our entire arms so we figured they would work too.
Big Nate grilled up the burgers nicely, it was kind of an ugly day so we were excited to get a chance to do something fun.

No good burger is served properly without some baked beans, so Jeremy opened up a can and cooked them up, seasoned to perfection. The trick to making an ordinary can of baked beans exceptional; a little bit of ketchup based barbeque sauce, a good helping of brown sugar, and a dash of liquid smoke.

In the end we heard compliments all around from the students, some even said that our burgers and beans were better than the cook makes. We even managed to convince Tom, one of the school teachers, that the smoke flavor the beans had was because we cooked them in the grill with the burgers. Maybe we should cook more often? Probably not.

Big Nate

So these are some pictures of the Boss man this week, He likes to ride around on the Back-Ho destroying stuff. This week he got to put the forks on and move quite a bit of stuff that has been needing to be relocated for more than a year.

Big Nate also got the chance to crank up the chainsaw and take out a few trees to clear some dead stuff out around the camp ground. He likes to wear the protective pants, they match our Husqy saws.

And here we see Nate popping a wheely in the Back-Ho. Yes, it was intentional. We were moving something that has been sitting in the same place for the last 3 years. It had been an eyesore that we are glad is no longer in plain sight. We'll show you what it is in our next post... bet you have seen it before and thought... wow... that's ugly, "they" should move that somewhere.

The Black Truck

So this is the Black Truck, our uber truck useful for hauling stuff to the dump, recycling centers, or for picking up building supplies at Lowes or other contractor supply places. No name has necessarily stuck to it other than 'The Black Truck' though some people grew particularly fond of the name 'Kong' after last year's movie. Essentially that's what the Black Truck is, our workhorse, our beast. He doesn't have 4-wheel drive and he gets a bit temperamental when changing gears. All in all though, he saves us a ton of time and energy. Every few years we have to rebuild the sidewalls on the bed because they get so beat up, just built a new tailgate a month ago actually. He has two diesel gas tanks, so it costs roughly $90.00 to fill him up nowadays. Perhaps the best part about Kong is that his bed has a hydraulic lift which makes him an excellent dumping truck, and though he is a little undersized compared to others, he is more than capable of meeting our needs here at Lurecrest.
