Lurecrestboys B-Ball
We here at Lurecrest have been playing basketball every Tuesday and Thursday night for the last few weeks... it's become one of those expected things. This time we got pictures... and Jeremy White was there... please note the dress socks and hiking boots.

Paul and Chuck
These are our Electricians.... hrmmm... working hard as always.
This is Paul Beam, who has been the electrician at camp for as long as anyone can remember. God only knows how many countless hours he has served here at Lurecrest and he still continues to bless us by giving his time and energy to do the electrical work needed here. He likes things done his way but it's because he knows how to do things so well. He has invented all kinds of tools for us and can weld anything we ask him to. We can't be thankful enough for this man, who also has been a blessing to campers as he helps sponsor many children.
This is Paul's partner in crime, Chuck Darnell. An ex-army special forces man, he loves guns and causing trouble... but also has a huge heart for Camp Lurecrest. He really is the brains behind the group and does most of the work (as you can tell). Paul gives Chuck a hard time all the time... and Chuck doesn't ever let us forget it.
Together they drive up here to Lurecrest a few times a week to fix our problems and try to tackle the unending list of needs we have electrically. Essentially there is and always will be more for them to do, but they work so hard and are such a blessing to us with the work they do we wanted to share with you who these wonderful men are. Thanks Paul and Chuck.April 23, 2007
Work Weekend - 4/21/07
This weekend was a blast as some more of our old staff came up to spend some time with us working and hanging out. Here is David Butts, Lindsay York, and Tina Hughes at the cook out we had down at the lake Saturday evening.
Here is the scene at the ski shed where a good 5 or 6 large trees fell. Dan White came back to help us again along with his friend Chris from Raleigh and Tina, a former counselor who lives in Raleigh also. Brittany Lightfoot also came down to hang out work with us and a few girls from Limestone College who were interested in being on staff here this summer came up. Unfortunately their first taste of Lurecrest was cleaning up logs and brush all day and we wore them out pretty bad, but they were troopers.
The lake road was in utter devestation after the windstorm and was a little bit too much of a task for us, so we took the opportunity to have all these guys help us clean it up. We must have filled the black truck up with about 25 loads of brush to be burned... on top of the probably 25 loads we had burnt the past two days from the rest of the grounds.
After a long day of work we wanted to have a nice evening down at the Lakefront we had worked all day to clean up and it was a blast. Big Nate grilled up a bunch of burgers and hot dogs and we all just had a great time relaxing and hanging out.
Here is Dan White and his friend Chris, along with Nate Shuttlesworth and Kristen Miller. It was a beautiful evening down at the lake and it was fun to have so many of our family there to enjoy it together.

The whole crew was there, Byron the ESBS teacher, the whole crew of ESBS students, Lindsay York, David Butts, Brittany Lightfoot, Lauren Ourant, Tina Hughes, Amy Larson and Noah (Big Nate's family), and all the other folks who helped us work throughout the day. It was a nice taste of what the spring and summer to come will be, hopefully next time you will be here with us.
