Lurecrest Work Weekends

Now that the winter is over camp will be coming right around the corner. If you haven't already applied you need to but if you can't come this summer you can still help us. Every year there is a lot more work to be done than the few of us here can manage so we invite former staff and friends to come and help us.

Essentially we ask that people come Friday evening to stay the night with us and then we will have breakfast at 8am, work the morning (i.e. raking leaves, painting, cleaning cabins, landscaping work, etc.), lunch at 12:30, work again trough the afternoon until 5:30, then we would have dinner at the lake with a bonfire and some worship together with a devotion. You would be free to leave that evening or stay the night if you like and we would have a breakfast and just some fellowship time Sunday.

The work weekends will be

April 14th
April 22nd

April 29th (also a retreat this weekend)

These are the saturdays we would be working, you would be free to come anytime Friday and leave anytime Sunday you would like. We will have housing and food for you, and will ask that you clean your living quarters before you leave.

For more information you can email Nate Larson @ nlarson@camplurecrest.org

or call Nate Larson @ 704-560-2887

or email Jeremy Britton @ javitti362@hotmail.com

If you have any friends who would like to come and see camp this is an excellent opportunity to invite them. If you would like to come up at any time during this spring you are more than welcome to please just call us and tell us when you would like to come.

In order to make sure we have the food and accomodations prepared for you please help us by telling us that you will be coming or are thinking about coming.

Thanks ya'll, we truly miss you up here and can't wait to see you.

Booyah! Maintenance Shirts!!!

Here they are, now we standout. These are the new t-shirts we have for the maintenance team. We wanted something that stood out so that people distinguish us on work weekends and during the summer that we might better aid them. The color "safety green" sounded like it would be suitable for our needs, and Nate likes it because it's "safe". We soon found out that they literally reflect and glow, both added features we weren't expecting but like.

We managed to get Noah to model them for us but we hope to have many more pictures of ourselves wearing them for you. The best part about them is the glorious picture of Bryan Irvin on the back, simply breathtaking. We only made a few of these things but if they get the attention this summer we expect we might make another order that some of our friends and campers might also possess this one of a kind shirt. Jeremy even suggested a "hot pink" version for any ladies who might be interested in rocking the lurecrestboys attire.

Our Guests from Florida

This last week we had some special guests from the Great Commission Bible Institute here. Bryan Irvin, one of our fellow Lurecrestboys brother, has been attending this bible school this year and brought a few of his fellow students as well as their leaders here for some fellowship time and activities. They had a busy few days here but seemed to really enjoy themselves.

These guys managed to accomplish a lot in the short few days they were here. This is what they did; attended a wedding, sat in on one of our ESBS classes, toured Asheville, went contra dancing, hiked to the Pinnacles, did both the Leap of Faith and the Dangling Duo, went on a boat tour of Lake Lure, played Guitar Hero, and had an evening at the lakefront with a campfire and worship. Not bad for two days. It was such a blessing to have Bryan Irvin back with us and to get to see these folks really enjoy what we are so blessed to have here at Lurecrest. Most importantly though they seemed to really get some good time to spend with Jesus and we hope they were blessed to see that He really is our only good thing amidst all the blessings we have here.
