As we have mentioned before, there is currently a bible school here at Lurecrest called the Emmaus School of Biblical Studies. Our bible school has 5 teachers currently who are all absolutely amazing people that have worked on staff here for many many years. We'll introduce you soon to the others but first we must have you meet Tom Phillips. Tom was a camper throughout his childhood and has been a fixture here on our staff for more than 10 years. He has worked as a crosstrainer, counselor, the outdoor adventure director, and as assistant to the director here at Lurecrest in the past. While he is now a teacher for the ESBS he also spends a great deal of his freetime trying to make Lurecrest a better place. He has been hard at work, hoping to bulid up an amazing outdoor education and adventure program and help Lurecrest move forward in having more community interactions. He single handedly saved the maintenance team this year from having to remove every tire on the shoreline. Needless to say we love Tom, and tend to do things to show him our affection as much as we possibly can. Tom, this blogs for you friend.
Tom was seeming to have a rough Valentines day this week so we decided to bless him. You have probably seen us remark about how Tom really loves trees and the "habitat" we have here at Lurecrest. Every tree that falls or that we cut up and destroy brings sorrow to his heart, and we as part of his body feel the pain. For Valentine's Day we wanted to give back,... so we yanked this sappling out of the ground and planted it in a bucket for Tom. Each of us here on the maintenance team wrote a special note for our friend Tom and then we labeled the bucket "Tree of Love". Hope you all felt as loved as Tom did this Valentine's Day
