This is what the top of the campground has looked like for the last few months, but today we were bent on making it a little more inviting. So, we put up the tent!
Here's Tom helping us, he has been one of the people who has set up the tent in years past and seemed happy to help us again this year since it's too large of a task for just us two maintenance guys to handle. Unfortunately Tom can get a bit bossy as you can see here with him barking out orders at Big Nate. One of the more painstaking parts of putting the tent together is sewing the seems between the four pieces, but with Tom there directing us we managed to do it correctly.
Here's Jeremy sewing up the tent, pulling a Michael Jordan with his tongue hanging out.
This is the ESBS teacher Byron Hartzler, he was kind enough to take all these pictures of us and help us put up this beast of a shelter. He hails from Canada and is the husband of the ESBS director Eileen. He wanted us to make sure we got a picture of him on the blog because it's so cool and since he was kind enough to help us we were happy to oblige. He's currently working on a blog for the ESBS that's we'll try to get a link to so that you can see all of the awesome stuff that's going on with the school, we'll try to give him some more love soon.
The trickiest part was getting the first center post up and then after that it's just a matter of getting the outlying posts up and fastening them down with tie-downs. This year we needed to replace most of the ropes and tie-downs around the perimeter so we bought all red tie-downs. Yep, our tent's straps actually color coordinate now, just one of the ways we're trying to make camp look and feel better.
